The editorial of the newspaper stands on the side of the truth | News, Sports, Jobs

I read with delight the recent editorial on critical race theory (“Understanding what CRT is,” Valdosta Daily Times, published in The Maui News on June 18).

The effort to deny history by people in civil service and political office must be resisted.

I tip my hat to The Maui News for standing on the side of the truth. At a time when truth is no longer fact, but opinion, it is important that our media support, seek out and report the truth.

After surviving four of the worst years in this country’s history, we are now learning the depths of the lying and theft practiced by our former leaders. What will it take for us to wake up?

If we deny our history, not just America’s degraded history which is enriched by the enslavement of millions of Africans, but also the disgusting genocide of the Hawaiian people and the historic colonialism of our government, we can be doomed. to repeat them.

Traditionally, we rely on journalists to report what is. Sometimes this faith has been violated, but if one investigates a variety of media, one can guess the truth.

Mahalo The Maui News for advocating the need to look at the past in all its ugliness. We’ll be better off.
